Trauma Focused CBT

Has your child or adolescent experienced a traumatic event? Are they having significant difficulty sleeping, eating, or lack of focus in school? Have you noticed other changes in their behavior post- trauma? TF-CBT may help. 

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidenced based treatment for children and teenagers who have experienced trauma. The treatment is conducted with a parent or caregiver. TF-CBT is a components-based therapy and can be used as a standalone or adjunctive therapy.   TF-CBT is most successful with individuals between 3 and 18 years old. TF-CBT may be used for children who have experiences one traumatic incident or multiple traumas. 

TF-CBT may help with symptoms such as (This is not an exhaustive list)

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • behavioral issues related to the trauma
  • poor sleep
  • lack of focus 
  • posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
